I actually like how easy a hiking skirt sounds. They make those for men? Lol. But no really do they. A kilt would be to much to bring along if its a real kilt.

Generally I wear odor resistant clothing and change under the tarp, if I am worried about people seeing me naked, I put a mil spec poncho up as a door. Generally, though, I just strip down to my boxers, if at all, and not worry about it since I wear odor resistant clothing.

Depending on the trip, I wrap a towel aroud me. These trips being car camping or canoeing. Most of my backpacking trips are 1 night and really don't have a need to change, at least not my boxers.

I will make reasonable accommodation for reasonable people. If someone wants to look, I will entertain requests.

I tend to camp in the backcountry and along the AT near the shelters. I step behind the shelter if there are conservative folk around. Otherwise I change quickly wherever my setup is. I'm not bashful, and no one seems to care when you don't make a show of it.
As others have said : tarp pulled closed, or "curtain hung", declaring your intention and courteous eyes diverted.
When car camping : opened car door and towel thrown over window.
A poncho is an easy cover for changing when away from tarp.
An oversize tank top, worn over your clothes is very good cover for "going in the woods".

I have the Superfly for this reason. Its big enough to conceal myself from other campsite goers. The people I got with have seen me in a bathing suit and if they want to look, fine but otherwise its not a big problem.

partly why I always use a 3 season tent. I didn't get it for the reason of privacy while changing since I am both young and have next to no body shame. I just figured that if people look they look, but I just have enough curtiousy to announce I am changing and step away. if I am just changing shirt and pants but not underwear, I just take it off and change even in the middle of camp. Again, I also camp in areas where not many are around anyways. My family camps to get away from people, not just to get out of the city.

If solo: in the open. With another guy: announce and if they look, its their fault. With mixed company: in the hammock under the TQ.
As a scuba diver, it not uncommon to have to change in the presence of the opposite sex. Common curtsey suggests that just like with heights the rule is "don't look down."
