    My Back Hurts

No matter how I hang my hammock or lay I always slide down so my feet are higher than my head. As a result from this I get in a weird arc that kills my back. I am using an ENO Double Nest right now. Should I have my suspension higher on one end, or do I need to get a different type of hammock?

    Thanks

I have an ENO DN and I don't think I encounter this problem. Are you laying on a bit of a diagonal, with your head just to one side of the center line and your feet just to the other side? I've found I can even lay a bit on my side in the DN...

Lots of folks have found elevating the foot of your hammock4-6" prevents the mid-night slide. Only hang time will tell if that will be comfortable for you. Do you have a ridgeline on your hammock? It's a good way to hang with the same sag once you do find your sweet spot, whether it be with this hammock or some other.

anyway you could take pics of it set up... we could maybe get a better idea os what the problem is
i suffer from back problems and found a hammock to help ... might be the way your hanging it or it might be it's just not the right hammock for your needs
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

I hang my foot end as much as 10" higher than the head end... and yes, your feet should be way out to one side and your head on the other. In a Doublenest, the fabric is wide enough to get really diagonal...

I lay as diagonal as I can. I will raise my foot end to see if that helps. I don't have a photo handy, but I have a youtube video of me camping and setting it up. http://youtu.be/2mg40P4zpII I hope I embedded right.
    Thanks for the help.

Try more sag. Whenever I've had discomfort in a hammock it's been from having it strung too tightly. Looking at your video, the hammock would be too tight for me.

I sleep in a double nest every night and right off, I can see that it looks like you have too much stuff in the hammock with you. Get an underquilt so that you only have something on top of you in the hammock and not underneath you. Also, as someone else mentioned, it does look like you have it hung a bit tight. A trick I learned from these forums to is to use a piece of chain on each end so that the height is adjustable (this is indoors btw!), some whoopie slings would be handy for you to try all sorts of different adjustments. An overly large pillow is not a friend in your hammock, but sometimes, a bag or rolled up jacket under your knees is (is it your lower back that bothers you?) A diagonal lay is essential, play around a bit, turn this way and that, adust this, adjust that and hang in there, (pun intended) you'll find your sweet spot and won't ever want to sleep in a bed again.

I have updated my suspension since the video with some homemade woopie slings, so I do get better adjustment now. I did raise my feet last night and it did seam to help.
Thanks again to all the HF members for all the help.

I definitely second raising your foot end when you set up.

Remember that your center of gravity will end up in the center, and your center of gravity is likely higher than halfway up your body.

I also agree with hanging with a lot more sag. The Eno DB seems to work better with more sag and you can get plenty diagonal in it.
