    Input on suspension systems?

Has any used or, can anyone see a problem with using the Speer four wrap knot and then using the Marlin Spike for whoopie slings to hang from as a suspension option?

It should work well if that's the way you want to attach the strap to the tree.

It would work, just more work than it needs to be. If your strap has a loop in at least one end, just thread the tail though the loop around the tree and cinch tight. Then add the MSH and your set.

Sewing the loop in the end is what I kind of want to avoid! I trust my butt and back to a simple seem in a hammock or sleeping bag! I just can’t bring myself to sew in the loop and feel confident. I have been practicing using the zipper whole setting to bar tack and put the X's in, just looking into alternatives, In case a loop fails

If you make a loop in the webbing using a water knot or figure 8 knot and you'd be fine with no sewing.

You can always tie a loop in the end....but seriously, if you have a machine, go ahead and sew the loop. It doesn't have to be pretty or use bar tacks. It just needs a bunch of stitches.

I know this is an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one when the topic was sort of addressed here.

Is there an advantage to sewing webbing instead of tying a water knot?

I trust my knots better than my sewing
