Question Zipper on a bag? Can you add a second zipper?

Do you folks know if it is possible to add another zipper to and exsiting zipper? So it would unzip and zip both ways?

It's doubtful. The ends of the tape have to be formed a specific way.

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

if it is a toothed zipper, then no.

if it is a coil type zipper, then you could take off the top stops and add another slider then put the stops back on (or replace them if you damaged them when taking them off). Fabric stores will carry repair kits that include stops and sliders for coil type zippers. Look on the internet on how to add the sliders to a coil zipper.

It is not as easy as that. Although the mechanics of it are correct you will need to match the sliders to the zipper tape and that may not be all that easy to do. IF the zipper is a YKK brand you might be in luck. Those sliders are easier to come by since it is such a prominent brand. But there are still several different styles so you would have to match them exactly.

If the zipper is not YKK all bets are off. Maybe you get lucky... maybe not.

Don't waste your money or time on a "universal fit" repair kit. Those can be useful for an emergency repair in the field. But for a good long lasting repair they are not worth the effort.

You might honestly be better off replacing the zipper with what you want rather than messing around trying to match parts.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
