Wow I am just getting into the hammock camping and I have never done any winter camping, unless you count sleeping in the fishing shack on the lake over night. I am very impressed with all of you. I would love to try this some time looks like a blast.

Thanks, Mac. T1 is a real cutie. Good job showing the cold. It almost makes me want to move back to Minnesota. I grew up not for from there.

Good stuff MacEntyre. Thanks for the video. I hope Pria continues to carve. It is a very relaxing and creative pastime.

She's picked one up a couple of times since you got her into it... but she's real busy with piano & flute, among other things. She wants to switch her focus from flute to bagpipes next year.

Priya has always wanted to carve... your carved gift to her sits right next to Book's, and she's studied them closely. I'll get her a carving set for her birthday in March. PM me with recommendations...

Mac, I know it's a multi-day trek to get up here from NC, but we love having you visit. Y'all come on back soon, ya hear?

Enjoyed the video, Mac. Boy, Thing1 really "hangs" with you on your extreme adventures! What grade is she in? Must be pretty tough to do all of that, despite her gentle appearance!

Thing1 and I were both warm in our PeaPods. She was in the SnugPod... Snugfit UQ inside a PeaPod. I had a Speer Top Blanket laid in the bottom of a PeaPod. Both of us had a Speer Top Blanket above us. In the middle of the night, we abandoned the hammocks, not because of the cold, but because Thing1 got claustrophobia... she couldn't stay warm without closing the PeaPod up until there was only a tiny hole. She did her best to calm down, but finally had to give it up. The next two nights she was fine, after Book loaned her another top blanket, a down coat, and a Molly Mac Gear canvas Hamarak sock. She left the PeaPod open.

Man, that is what happened to one of my friends on his first- and last- hammock outing with me. He was able to stay warm in the PeaPod ( and really not much else) when he closed it all the way, but then he would start going crazy and have to open it, and get cold. Turns out he was quite claustrophobic. He has not used that PeaPod or hammock since then.

So you were warm at, what- minus 19? With a PeaPod plus Speer top blanket below and above and I suppose plenty of warm clothing? Anything else, MMG sock? Any pads?
