Still, the guys who make the higher end mummy bags make non-mummy bags with most of the same weather resistant features. With or without the hood, or with a separate hood. In fact, I have a separate Marmot hood that was designed to snap onto some of their semi-rectangular bags. Don't know if they still make any of that.

I have been reading a lot of reviews on sleeping bags and it seems most people are more concerned about base temperature ratings and not really testing any kind of windproofing. there is a mention of the zippers and having draft protection. I am thinking about just springing the money and buying a big agnes bag. I could've also put a fleece liner in the bag that I have but that adds more complication to getting in and out for the midnight run. If you know what I mean. Anyone with an expensive bag let's say more than 100 dollars, having any kind of issues with the wind?

    GT Hammock Cimpatible Sleeping Bag

I think this works well, add a silk sleep sack or fleece liner for added warmth but comfort and wind protection and versatility

I tried to post a picture or link but it doesn't work for some reason

I actually have a bag right around $100 that does great in the wind. It's a cabelas trekker v rated for 0 degree. Wife and I got rectangles for christmas one year. It is way too heavy for me to carry most times but it gets put in the bag as soon as temps dip below freezing.

Thanks all. I ended up picking up a Lost Ranger bag, and spent last Saturday hanging in it. Couldn't test the wind as there was none! Go figure. I slept like a log though, and can't wait to put it through its paces.
