    Shepherd Hook Titanium Stakes

I am looking for new stakes.

    My question is:

Are the Shepherd Hook Titanium Stakes strong enough to use as my primary stakes on my OMW Tarp? Do they bend easy?

Or do you suggest the Tri-Stakes? I previously used the HF Tri-Stakes on my BMJ Tarp.

I am considering ZPack Shepherd Hook Titanium Stakes @ 5.7 grams each

    or

Wilderness Logics Ultralite Y Stakes @ 12 grams each

I am open to other brands/styles also. Please let me know.

    Thanks !

I cary a variety of styles and use the style that holds the best in the soil i have at camp on the windward side, and the others on the leeward side thats how I avoid bringing the wrong stakes.

They're strong enough for tarp use, regardless of the brand. I prefer them most of the time myself.

They don't always work as well in really soft or soggy soil, though. It can help to put a rock or log on top of the stake in those conditions.

I use the Ti shepherd hooks most of the time. The have held good for in some pretty windy setups.

I agree with the Sparrow. Additionally, often I will "mix" my gear, be it stakes, straps, whatever, and not take all of the same kind. I feel this gives me greater flexibility. So I might take mostly Ti stakes and one or two other kind, just for the reason Sparrow mentions. Also, another kind of stake can be used for digging (such as a cat hole) and is multi-function.

I have had great luck with my shepherd hooks but do mix with my groundhogs here and there.

    +1

I sometimes mix my stakes with the Vargo Outdoors "Ascent" Titanium Snow Stakes from Z-Packs (use the sheppard's for the doors and Ascents for main tie outs) for me it mostly depends on the weather (wind mostly) and soil!
