Great modification. Truth be told, I too have woken up with a leg hanging out over the edge of the hammock. It can be quite painful.

What a horrible thing to post... don't you know I was already planning on doing Knotty's version and now I have decisions to make?

Great mod and I actually think I'll be doing this to my first DIY hammock and give it a try first and save my material for my next DIY hammock until I have made a decision.

Thanks for the video and the great mod!

Hangnout, like others have already said, this is a great mod. I'm planning on doing a 1.1 double layer. Would you attach the footbox just to the top layer, leaving the space for slipping in a pad if needed? Another question, how far from the end do you sew on the footbox? Wait, another question, how far up the head side do you run your shock cord? It looks like a really comfortable and functional hammock.
Wish i could get to the Md Tenn Hang, but it's not in the cards this year. Thanks for sharing. I'll look forward to the video of others ooohing and aaahing over your work.

I would put in on the outside layer. The best thing to do is lay in the hammock and have someone mark where you want the footbox centered. On the mods I completed I started about 14"-18" from the whipping knot. I will have to measure the head end shockcord to see where it started.

Any advice on sewing the curve??? Just tried this and that was the hardest sewing I have ever done! Even with pinning it wanted to fold over on itself so you could not pull the cord thru.

Thanks for any advice and help!

Plan on having a slight material fold over every few inches. If you don't by the time you get to the apex you have too much material to deal with.

I am making a hammock right now and that was just what I needed! Its simply brilliant! Thanks!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

I love this mod as I indicated on Medicinemans video of it.
To me, this takes Knotty's excellent design to a high.
This adds the one missing ingredient to make it a "real" footbox; that is the additional material which actually extends the hammock.

Congratulations and I will definitely be copying it
