Thanks for sharing. After the rainy weather last week, it was nice seeing the sun over the weekend. Considering that it is January, the temps were pretty darn nice.

Some really nice views! Thanks for sharing!
Love those Georgia mountains, and the awesome views!
Good to see the remodeling to the oldest shelter on the AT. 1922 that one was built, if memory serves correct.
Used to live outside of Dawsonville, GA very near Blood Mountain. Loved camping in that area. Thanks for sharing.
I was there this weekend too. Took my wife's kid brother camping for his first time. And his first time was in a hammock! Here is a picture of our campsite on top of Blood Mountain. Since he had no gear he used the wife's purple mummy bag.

Those were great views. Thanks for posting. The AT has been on my hit list since i was a teenager.

good to see these views! I live close by and I noticed in one of your shots Mt. Yonah. We say that if you can't see Mt. Yonah you're too far from home. If you look closely from where you were on a day like that you can see the skyline of Atlanta (don't get too close, kiddies.)
I grew up in & around Atlanta and hiked/camped Blood Mountain several times in the late 70s and 80s. One night three of us hiked up after nightfall in the clouds. We ended up turning our flashlights off because they just made it into a whiteout. Even with rain gear, we got soaked as we sweated. It was chilly & windy on top. There were two guys in the back room of the shelter so we took the front room. We blocked the outside door with an old tarp held down by bags of cement that were there to build a floor in the shelter. The wind blew so hard the cement bags were pushed off the tarp's bottom and we nearly froze as we slept on the rocks that had been put down as a base for the floor (no pads for any of us)! Great memories!
