Glad you like the idea. Was I right about your tarp, that it had got deformed and if so, how did it happen?

The tarp is not deformed actually (as in permanently). It just looks like crap because I had it pitched poorly in that photo. I was using shock cord from the pullouts and angling it down to the ground stakes. In addition the corner tieouts weren't pitched real taught either causing the "boob" effect...LOL!

That's a very nice pitch when you have time and rope to play with.

Panel pullouts are nice to have but I don't find them necessary even when the tarp is pitched close to the hammock.

BlazeAway- Nice experiment with the tie outs. I could see that he tie out lines would help you shed snow at the angle you have you side tied out at. I have been experimenting with different techniques for pulling out my superfly (especially on the entry side of my WBBB hammock. I like to have the extra room on that side.

Beautiful looking Blaze,,,,, but too much fiddle for me. I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to have the RL under the tarp and use a couple of carbon rods laid across the RL with shock cord down to the pullouts ,,,i guess a bit like AHE new Rock tarp ???,,,,just a thought.

Thks MAY have been mentioned in the video, but I had to watch it without sound so I have no idea.

I'm on vacation so can't try this, but I'm thinking you could use one line for each tree instead of an one line for each pullout. Have a continuous loop or bowline knot on one end of the line and a figure 9 or tarp flyz on the other. You can larkshead it onto one tieout, make one loop around the tree, and hook it to the other pullout on the same end but other side of the tarp. You could easily put it on the tarp as needed and this would eliminate having to tie several knots, especially while standing on tiptoe.

When you know what to do it only takes a minute, so time is no issue IMHO. Furthermore, with a steep pitch and wind, panel pullouts sure is nice to have, again IMHO.

I will do a bid more panel pullout experiments. Think I am on to a better flying experience.

Great video! Gives me some ideas to play with the next time I pitch my Superfly!
