    $5.00 underquilt

I posted a while back about my experiment with a $5.00 Walmart comforter made into an under quilt. I had a chance to test it out this weekend in low 30 degree temps. It passed with flying colors. Warmest I've ever slept in a hammock.
I'm not a backpacker. I either car camp or , more frequently, camp out of my kayak. An extra pound of weight or a few more cu in. of volume don't bother me much. It's folded to give a double layer of insulation. The finished full length UQ is 45" wide and stuffs in a compression bag to about the size of a volley ball.
I used simple cord for the suspension. Very little fiddling to get it to hug the bottom of the hammock. The full length gives a lot of leeway in how it fits.
It probably wouldn't do for a backpacker, but it suits me fine.

    Pics?

A few people here were looking at some of the cheap quilts that Ikea sells. This might be a decent way for car campers to get into the hobby!

Dude bring it and yourself to the 2nd Annual Louisiana Spring Hang the first weekend in March.
For $5 that beats the closed cell foam pad they sell for comfort.

Yeah, I like pics too. I'll try to get some this weekend.

Really nice feeling to lay in the hammock and have the heat start radiating back to you. After about a minute, it feels like someone turned on an electric blanket.

We have Dirt Cheap here in Alabama and I just bought a Woolrich Down blanket twin size for five bucks and was thinking it would make a neat uq. It compresses real small and does not seem to weigh much. Please post pictures so I can see how yours is hung.

That's awesome. I have or should I say am doing the same thing. I hang in my basement all the time. I'm set up in front on my 51" Sony woot woot. Any who it gets really cold on my basement and I can't stand laying on a pad.... I tried the z rest . So I took some paracord and an old comforter and bing go! I placed a slip knot on each end of the cord. Slipped my loops onto each corner of my comforter and just than the cord through my rings. Works like a champ. The slip knots work great. They are easy to loosen and adjust or in case my wife starts looking for her comforter .... Ok maybe It's not that old. Lol
