Wm bug net

Just testing the waters. I got some camo netting in the hunting section at wm on Clearence and was wondering if anyone had used it for a DIY bug net. If so how good was it for that application. It seemed pretty good so I got it and will give it a try. Now I have to figure what style of bug net to make. What are the most common likes pros and cons for the different styles?

Here's a bugnet thread that I started this week- looking at a top entry bug net and a bottom entry bug net.

There are also bugnet socks, and integrated bugnets that attach to the hammock with a zipper (or velcro, etc)

Netting is a pest to work with, but if you're patient you can do it. What size are the holes, and how heavy is the fabric?

You'll also probably need a ridge line to keep it off your face- remember that if your skin is up against the net, the mosquitoes will bite through.

The other consideration is whether you'll want all around mosquito protection, or just up top (they have been known to bite through hammock fabric!)

Thanks for the link. The holes are pretty small but the net is heavier than tulle. Are there any special settings I should try on the machine when I stitch it?

not sure sorry- there are way better sewers (sorry, thread injection experts) on this forum than I am.

Oh- and what kind of fabric is it? if it is cotton it will rot.

Not sure what it is but is is not cotton. It is used to make hunting blinds with. So I think it will work for a while.
