    I think you would need to anneal the copper before and after.

    If it wanted to crack I'd try to anneal it first, but not after. I would imagine you'd want it to work harden, yes? If you anneal it again it will be soft and easily deform.

    Copper work hardens. Annealing relieves stresses and softens it but soft is relative. Soften it before so it does not crack while forming. Soften after so it is less likely to stress crack under repeated load.
