    Mamajamba help???

It was good day in the Sevens house last night. We got our Yeties and a Mamjamba in the mail. I got the tarp with pull outs. Should I seam seal the pull out disks on the back? I never used seam seal so any tips would be awesome as well.

    Thanky Thanky -

I've only sealed the inside seams but others have done both sides. McNett Silnet is good for silnylon but I and others have used Permatex Flowable Silicone available in hardware or autoparts stores.

i sealed both sides on mine, didn't see what it could hurt to be sure

after the sealant has dried it's a good idea to dust it with a little talcum powder so that it won't stick to itself when you roll it up

I sealed the pullouts on the inside of my bmj. I also just sealed the inside of my ridgeline cause it felt like I was getting a little bit of misting through there.

I have a video about seam sealing on my YouTube channel if you want to check it out. It walks you through it .

Hmm. No snowmobile and the reindeer are on strike. We will definetly have to go play hammock soon though. You know before your time gets taken up with poo and spit up and sleepless nights.

Set up the hammock in a warm, dry place. A well ventilated area is helpful.
Pull out the tarp fully, and tension as in normal use (pullouts too)
Apply seam sealer sparingly, so it does not make a mess. Just apply to only the stitches. Your filling the tiny needle holes, it doesn't take much
I use a homemade seam sealer, a mix of 1 part silicone caulk and 5 parts mineral spirits and small artists paintbrush. Mix this up in a small disposable plastic cup. Apply immediately. The mineral spirits will evaporate quickly, leaving behind a nearly invisible coating in the holes and on the stitches.
Inside, outside or both sides, its a personal preference. IMO, rain will be on the outside, so I would start there.

Allow the tarp to hang for 24 hours.

Some guys at the Mt Rogers Winter Hang got more than misting. A couple of them got soaked and talked of going home due to tarp leaks in 38 degree F rain and mist. It is always a good idea to seam seal your ridgeline.
