    My very first hammock test

So I went out and picked up the Skeeter Beater pro today. Just rigged it up in the backyard with the basic suspension that came with it. I like the way it lays. So tonight I am gonna try it out. Only supposed to get down to 32 here tonight. So I just gonna hang here by the fire pit and watch a few old Shug videos for motivation. Wish me luck. Full review to follow.

It's definitely a learning process trying to figure out the sag. And I am a modest 245lbs so there is some stretch involved. LOL. I fell asleep in the hammock:thumb up: slept for about 3 hours. woke up to some cold spots around my shoulders and a bad sag. So I called it a night. I had my thermarest and a CCF but I need an SPE.
All and all it was a great learning experience. I went in knowing that the basic suspension wasn't gonna cut it but I wanted to try it out. I got 30 ft of climbing strap and some hardwood dowel for toggles. I found out that West Marine carries amsteel so I think I am gonna try making my own whoopie slings.
In my mind that seems like the way to go. Tree Strap + Marlin Spike hitch + Whoopie sling.

Also once I get my sag figured out I am going to run a structural ridge line too. I hope to have all my bugs worked out by next week. I will post pics or a video then.
Shug thanks for all the videos! I am holding you personally responsible for this hammocking addiction. All I want was to see some alcohol stoves and you video was the one that popped up first. You have the best you tube channel ever!!!!

I think many of us here can blame him for the same thing

Glad you had a good experience and in my opinion you're taking proper steps and knowing when to bail is part of the learning process. You'll get it all dialed in soon and when you do, show us some pics.
