    Noobie Question

    Hey all

So Ive been playing around with my hammock in the house to get ready for spring, and get things set the way I want. I'm using a ENO Doublenest with Whoopies that I made for it.

Took me a while to get things situated, but one thing I'm having an issue with is that I have a tight spot that runs down the middle , almost making a W when it reaches the gathers. If I try and lay Diagonal it seems to make 2 trenches that are exaggerated as it heads into the tapered ends. Ive slept in it for about 1.5 weeks now trying different things, but to no avail.

Ive tried putting a ridgeline on, and that hasn't helped. As far as the setup, I had removed the rope that was in the sewn channel, and ran my whoopie through 2 times. Its hung at close to the 30 degree.

    Any Ideas?

    J

I've only had this issue when not on a 30deg hang. If the sag isn't right, the material will be pulled to tight near the end. Calf-ridge some call this, as the material tends to push up on your calf muscle. Raise the foot end up about 6-8" and you should be fine.

Try raising the foot end higher than the head end. Try it in stages. Raise it a little, get in and see how it feels and continue as needed. Some people have their foot end as much as a foot higher than their head end.

I am using an ENO Double as well. What you are referring to can happen in any gathered end hammock. Just Jeff mentions this on his page about building a gathered end hammock http://tothewoods.net/HomemadeHammock2.html. I found that I did not notice this in my ENO when I had a small stuff sack with my jacket in it under my knees. Made it very comfortable.

    Thanks for the tips

I will try fiddling with the foot height, I did have it a bit higher, but only about 4-5 inches.

The part about under the knees does work, I had been putting a pillow under my knees too, hopefully playing around with the foot height will alleviate this.
