Do you mean the 'owner supplied' spreaders to keep the bug netting spread?
If so, mine are aluminum arrow shafts cut to exactly 16".
I sewed the outer edges of the outermost loops closed to create a pocket for the arrow shafts. A little bit of a pull to get the pocket over the end of the shaft and everything fits snugly. I also plugged each end of the shafts with a dowel rod - cut off very short - then sanded to a round nub - to avoid any sharp, abrasive edges in my pack.

The new 2012 Frontline and Travel hammocks come with spreader bars. I was unlucky to order the day before bushcraft posted a review on Youtube for the new Frontline.

I tried to get just the bars from DD, but they wouldn't sell them alone. I was disappointed, considering that I ordered just a few days earlier (DD lost some kudos there in my count).

I found the bars from teflon a bit bulky because I want them to fit to the stuff sack, so I made some myself from Easton arrowshafts. I used a 2314 shaft, cut to 4 pieces of 7 7/8'' and a 2014 shaft for two 1'' inserts which will perfectly fit into the 2314 tube.

I then glued the inserts with Epoxy to the bigger tubes and made nubs for the open ends.

All in all 20 minutes work with two left hands.

Great Idea, Womble, for getting those shafts down to a more packable size.

Thanks to you for the idea to use arrow shafts . I'm used to wooden shafts and was surprised that the 2014 fits so well into the 2314.

You should be able to get a tent pole repair kit from your local camping store. Buy the 4 or 6mm kit & you'll be able to make quite a few spreaders just like the DD ones.

I used a Coleman tent pole replacement from Wally World to make two spreaders that collapse. Cost $10 and is enough to make 4 spreaders, took about half an hour to make 2 (I'll gladly make someone a pair with the rest of my kit, if that person covers cost and shipping ~$12).

I have pictures and a guide to doing it, should I open a new thread or just continue this one?
