BTW, another way to get a contact high? Laying in your hammock?

I've got to admit that I'm a bit disappointed to find that my hammock wasn't made in Canada, then again not much else is these days. However I'm happy with the product and I can only hope that Hennessy is getting its product from a respectable source. China is growing and quickly modernising. There are 2 billion people there and I'm sure that the vast majority are great people. I don't want to get into some of its governmental policies as its far too upsetting. Hopefully with growing prosperity a new enlightenment will blossom....hmmm...but they say money corrupts...dang it...I wanted a happy ending to this reply..

We are not talking about trade. We are talking about hammocks.

If you call being a slave livlihood (this is literal doublethink!), and think that sweatshops are justifiable, I would say the matrix officially has you! What do you think, Neo?!
I was responding, in part, to your post about the 'morality' of purchasing products from certain foreign countries (post #19 above), "Two issues have come up in this thread regarding country of manufacturer. One involves craftsmanship, and the other is morality. I can see these issues being important to uninformed consumers, and I think it is nice that we will have a thread that asseses this."

I suppose we've spent enough time about the moral issue of Canadian hammocks assembled in China. Now, as to 'slave livlihood'[sic]...

How about we try to compile a list of major hammock companies, and where their goods are manufacutured? Obviously we already have the Hennessey, and can include The Travel Hammock. Can anyone with other hammocks chime in to the country of manufacture?

    Hennessey Hammocks (HH)--China

    The Travel Hammock--China

    Eagles Nest Outfitters (ENO)--Bali

    Ticket to the Moon--Bali

    Jacks R' Better (JRB)--USA

    Clark--USA Quote from website:

    Byer--Brazil and China

--Cotton hammocks w/o spreader bars are Brazilian. Travel style hammocks and cotton hammocks with a spreader bar are Chinese

    Crazy Creek--China

    Lawson-- China

    Warbonnet-- USA

Any other companies I have forgotten?

Thanks, Angrysparrow! I have looked up all the companies above, and have added what they have listed on the website. I will call the different companies that I cannot find info for on Monday to fill in the gaps unless someone who knows will chime in...
I guess I can't edit this post anymore, so I just quoted it to add the new info. (Which stinks b/c it erases my quotes.) The only company I don't have is Claytor; I have emailed him, but no answer yet. So, if you know the country for Claytor, please chime in!

I think Claytors are made in Thailand. I know someone said that you order the Clayotr No Net from Thailand.

I think with Hennessy it depends on the model. The Expedition is definitely made in China, and the military models are made in USA per the site, I couldn't find info about the others (Canada?).

--Cotton hammocks w/o spreader bars are Brazilian. Travel style hammocks and cotton hammocks with a spreader bar are Chinese

    Jacks R' Better (JRB)--USA http://www.jacksrbetter.com/

    Warbonnet--USA Website coming soon!

I included anything I could find that was applicable to this subject, and noted it by their entry in the list. Thanks to all who helped in this endeavor!

Here is a thread I started about this list, as it applies to more companies than just Hennessey:
