Forgive me Fronkey, but I'm going to ask one of those questions you want to avoid. You didn't seem to cover in your video about the weight of the down. In other words, if the bag has 1oz. of down, but I only need .75 oz. What then? Will they bag it to the exact weight you need? Do I have to remove some, and how? Questions, questions, questions. Don't ya hate noobs?

Thanks man. I do like a clean down free home if I can help it.

lol I don't mind questions at all. It's just I didn't want to answer all the technical one people could get from a bunch of other threads that have already covered it.

WL bags them in both 1oz and 1/2 oz bags.

In that video I was using 1/2 (.50) bags. If I were using those I would put in one whole bag and then 1/2 of another to get the 3/5 oz.

If I were using 1oz bags. I would cut it in half and put one of those halves in a baffle. Then take out half of the other cut bag and put it in there and there you have 3/4 ounces.

I'll be having fun trying this with Thru Hiker's 3oz bags. I really liked the convenience of WL bags (who I used in the past), but I really want the 900 Fill.

From what I've been hearing... WL is actually more like 825-850.

What you could do for those is sew the bag to separate the down. I did that before and it worked great. 3oz of down is a pain in the butt to handle.

I had been thinking about that as an option. Glad to hear it worked out for you.

If you look at the packages from WL they are all sewn shut on both ends. I've been thinking that they just have a big long tube of it and then sew it in sections and that's the bags we get when we order.

Wow! A real confidence builder, especially in light of the horror stories on down I have read. So, I got my wife to watch your down video, and she says she can/will make me a UQ, and that is my idea of a good DIY project!

Terrific! I'm glad it could be of some help.

Post your under quilt when you're done with it and give me tons of thanks.

And here I was cramming a whole **** chicken into each baffle; that would explain the bears.

Keep it happy and you can have some warmth and then eggs for breakfast.
