    Mobile, AL amsteel alarm!

West Marine on Dauphin Island Parkway, right under Dor River bridge has all kinds of Amsteel, Zing-it, and nice shock cord. Plus alot of other high strength, low stretch cordage. I stayed in there an hour today just checkin it all out. Pretty cool to see the large diameter Amsteel the big boats use. But they have it all the way down to 7/64ths.

    I couldn't leave without a role of Zing-It.

just about all west marines carry those lines, as well as a lot of other marine shops.

There's 3 in Mobile, and this is the only one that has rope. All the others looked at me weird when I asked where it was. I've never found it at any other marine shop in the state of Alabama.

I'm in an area with a ton of marine shops, and nobody carries amsteel. The only time I've found it was 80' of it in a water ski handle kit, and they wanted $90 for 80' of amsteel and a $3 plastic handle.

I always figured ATV stores would carry it since it's popular on light weight winches. So far, no joy. There's a West Marine in Pittsburgh (but not Erie, what the heck?). I'll have to give them a try. How do their prices compare to the online prices?

Yall are lucky. I knew this place had it, but even when I went in, they were't sure what I was talkin about. I had to find it myself. The had some kind of hollow braid stuff about the same size as 7/64th amsteel, but it was off-white colored and rated to 1900 lbs. It was twice the cost of the amsteel. I forget what it was.

They are definetly much higher in prices than online shopping. But I was in there with it staring right at me, I couldn't resist.

7/64 amsteel was .45 a foot. The other mystery super line was .85 a foot.
