So far it consists of goint to Amtrack website and you can plan the entire thing there. You simply pick a starting and return date and starting and ending destination. In our case we live in a small town so there is no station. We found that by picking different departure points a similar drive distance but different direction we could considerably reduce travel time and cost. The website is a little clunky but you can get through it. They also have some specials from time to time but so far none have been of benifit to us. We are also planning to add the "Mini Room" option to the long leg of our trip. From Chicago to East Glacier is 27 hours. At least you can have a bed at night.
Gentle raindrops and mighty oceans...neither can exist without the other.
Time heals all wounds...but it usually leaves a pretty big scar.
Love us some Glacier!!!
We were there in 2010 - hiked to Hidden Lake from Logan Pass - WHAT A HIKE!! If you do this one don't forget to turn around and look once in a while - the views are AMAZING!!
I'd be looking REAL careful at shuttles and such from East Glacier. We were in out camping van, so, didn't do any shuttles actually - and, it has been a bit since being there so I might be giving a tad of a false alarm!! Just make sure you're well versed on this topic - the train station is directly across from a lodge where you can get a windjammer tour...heck, they may even pick you up at the train station...
I want to go back and do the highline trail.....
If you can work out making it to Polebridge, do it!!
