CCF pad vs PLUQ

This weekend I finally got myself a scale and I discovered something that has me considering other options for winter warmth. I have an Army surplus pad that weighs in at 363g (12 oz). My PLUQ weighs 1312 (46oz). I had thought about doubling up the PLUQ for winter temps but looking at the weight it would seem that using the PLUQ and the Pad would be the best idea. I am thinking that I need to move to down fill for my UQ to really save any weight. I can probably squeeze 4 seasons out of a Down UQ for around the same weight as the CCF pad. Unfortunately $$$ is the problem with the change over.

The CCF pad and PLUQ is what I currently use. Haven't had it down to REALLY cold temps, but VERY warm at 38. So warm in fact I had to vent! LOL!

Ive used my Sewn PLUQ into the low 40's High 30's but I have 3 layers of IX in mine.

It works; I've used my sewn version (with a single layer of Insul Bright added to it) with a sit-pad-sized piece of CCF down to 24 F successfully. A full pad plus my sewn PLUQ would get me down into the teens, probably.

With the no-sew version, my guess is that I'd be able to get down into the low twenties with a WallyWorld CCF. At those temperatures, air flow management becomes very important, and the no-sew version just doesn't hug the hammock quite as well.

Note, though, that I'm a very hot sleeper; I figure most folks should add five to ten degrees to my estimates to get their comfort rating.
