After it soaked in the bucket did you try remove excess silicon or did you just hang it up to dry? I would like to see a picture of how small it can get when packed away.

okay, so you mixed, put in bucket, and then treated material. after that did you hang and wipe off excess?

Wow!! Just wow!! Good job. Have you field tested yet? I would also like to know if you scrapped off the access or what?

sorry for the delay in replying I have been out enjoying the weather.

there was no excess to wipe off the sheet absorbed everything.

I just got back from a camping trip to glacier yellow stone and the grand tetons. It rained pretty good the first couple of nights we were there. as a mater of fact the first night I left it up in porch mode and awoke at 6 to find about 5 gallons of water suspended in the tarp and hanging right next to my head, and I am proud to say not one leak. I wish I had taken a pic of it but I was still semi asleep when I dumped it out. My brother says he wants one for christmas but he wants it to be a star wars sheet.

the tarp provided great protection from the elements that I encountered on the trip. I made this so I could use it while I saved up for a nice silnylon tarp but now after seeing how well it did on this trip. I think I will save up for a nice underquilt instead. Man we had some cold nights.

it was 100% clear liquid silicone in a 10oz tube. I used a caulk gun to get it out of the tube. I hope that answers your question. It is the same Method as the DIY silnylone sticky in the DIY section.

Great Idea! Thanks for the field test update!

I think I'll be teaching the kids how to do one of these, rather than a tyvek tarp for the DIY hammocks they are building.

Anyone know if there are there any instructions on polyurethane waterproofing fabric? Would it be easier than mixing up a batch of Silicone?

Anyone else try this? I'd like to see some better pictures and see how it packs. I'm going to be doing some church camping with the youth and they are making their own tablecloth hammocks, this would be perfect to go along with it.
