Super Fly Opinions wanted

I have a 4 season cuben but when I cold weather camp with others who have Superflys, I'm always envious of the coverage and how it's width allows it to be pitched very low for windy conditions.

Fishike makes a good point about weight, I'd definately look into the MJ with doors option, see what owners have to say.

It's a great tarp, I sold one and regretted for six months till I bought another one.

To me, weight is a non-issue with this. We are talking a few ounces here. I'll carry a few extra ounces any day to get the kind of coverage this tarp affords, and all the set up options. I think people put too much emphasis on weight sometimes because the mindset has become to go as light as possible. While I understand this, your protection from the elements hardly seems like a place where you should skimp out because of a few ounces...but this is just my opinion. YMMV

My favorite tarp ... well made, great coverage and well worth any weight penalty ... to me. Love setting mine up in porch mode and enjoying a rainy day instead of having to hunker down under a minimalist tarp.

Great tarp. I bought it for a winter set-up, but it would definitley be a good option in warmer weather too, if you like privacy.

Another loyal fan here. Bought mine several years ago so I really enjoy the option of leaving the doors at home during 3-season treks. AMPLE coverage for downpours plus there's enough space for you and 1-2 others to stay dry. Makes those downpours a little more social...

Excelent tarp! I use it for cold, windy, rainy weather, by the time you fit it out, with, tieouts, stakes (8-10) snakeskinn, it's up to two pounds. For warmer weather I go down to a smaller tarp.

For me the best thing about a large tarp like the Superfly is when the weather turns bad
you have enough coverage for fellow campers to come join you, maybe cook/ eat their meal,
talk about the day or what's planned for tomorrow. Well worth the extra oz for me.

i have a BMJ with door kit, best of both worlds, can take the doors off and leave them at home to save weight if i want too

the superfly as it is currently made has the doors sewn on, so if being able to leave the doors behind on occasion is a consideration for you, you might want to get a BMJ and door kit

absolutely great tarp, can't see myself ever owning anything esle, unless i would go to cuben......but for the $ Brandon's stuff is hard to beat

I like everything about my Superfly except the weight but I generally only use it in winter and that usually means it gets pulled in the pulk and not in a pack breakin' my back.
