    whoopie hooks ?

Hey so yeah I'm feeling kinda dumb right now. I've been checking out Dutchs site and saw that he is offering up whoopie hooks. I simply don't get what they are for. Are they suppose to replace Dutch buckle ? In the description it mentions that they are to replace the plastic whoopie bead. Isn't the bread just there to stop the backslice from pulling threw ?

They allow you to detach your suspension from the hammock entirely.

On the hammock end, larks head a continuous loop of 7/64" Amsteel to the hammock. Then, attach the whoopie sling (with a hook spliced into the working loop) to one end of your tree hugger, instead of to the hammock. The whoopie hook in the loop snaps onto the continuous loop you put on the hammock.

The placement of the whoopie is backwards from the 'typical' use, but works just as well. And in addition to being able to disconnect the suspension from the hammock quickly, the hook acts as a water break.

Think of it as making your suspenion modular.

Wow ! I getting now. You can have (1) one suspension for all your hammocks. That is really cool.

I just ordered them for my Adjustable Webbing Suspension. I will put one in the continuos loop in the "V" buckle at the end of Adj. Webbing, continuos loop on my hammock. DONE

Need to rename "Dutch Suspension Hooks"
    Or "Dutch Hammock Hooks"

I've been using my set a while and I am really digging them. Imade my own UCRs and straps to work with them though. Dutch's system is good, but it didn't fit well with the way I hang. But changing my suspension around a little worked great. At some point I owe Dutch a few more videos on his stuff, but I have about 1000 things going on the last few weeks and haven't gotten to experiment of video anything.

Dutch rates them to 1000lbs, but I'm sure that's with some safety margin.

You'd likely see the straps or Amsteel fail first.
