I cut part of a electrical wire nut. Available and works like a charm!

I have used beads, though when I forget, I just tie a loop of cord (usually to a toggle, too) . . . keeps it all together.
You had to ruin it for me! I have a collection of what I call widgets - little things like this that I pick up, the purpose of which is not readily discernible to me. I've been collecting widgets since I was six years old. When I joined the military and went overseas, my mother threw out two big boxes of my widgets. She thought it was junk. I use a very small "split ring" keyring for whoopies that are already made.

Whatever it is, it looks like the Star Wars Death Star, or the AT&T logo.

IDK, SS, these theories add up to it possibly having been swallowed, pooped, flushed and eventually washed up on a beach near you.

    I'm having second thoughts...

Beep, I've done the split key ring too. Works fine.

I use wooden beads you can find in the craft section at wally world, the kind you make jewelry with. They work great. I do run my pocket knife or a piece of sandpaper through the hole to smooth out any splinters.
