    bad first night

Tried. My setup last night for the first time. Set up in the dark of my backyard. Was in the mid 30s with a slight breeze. Hung Hammy and put the pod on. I hung my tarp hoping to keep some wind off if it pickrf up. Tarp hung basically on top of the hammock because of the stand I was using. First problem is I definately need some shock corf for the head end. I could not keep it closed enough the cold spots were killing ne. Second porblem was massivr condensation on the inside of tarp which waas getting my bag wet. Got up at 2am. Took hammy in and slept in my bed...

    What's up with the moisture?
If I shoccord the head end to keep it on my shoulders I don't think I could breathe!

The moisture is coming from your breath. If you hang a absorbent cloth like a sham wow or something from your ridge line and have it drape down in front of your chin it will catch a lot of it. Or use one over your mouth tied like a mask. I cant stand anything tied over my face though so I either hang it or at least attach it on my bag/TQ like a bib
Where were the cold spots you speak of?

When you set up in the woods you will be able to hang your tarp higher and it will help your condensation problem as the moistue from your breath will be able to escape.

Don't give up. Your backyard is the best place to sort out your rig.
Keep at it- tweak, find issues, ask advice here on this forum and implement ideas/changes,
This will help you on your learning process, both on how to tweak your
rig and learn the limits of your rig.

I agree about the condensation issues- the moisture in your breath is freezing
to the inside of your tarp.

CBS- is most likely an air gap between the hammock and your UQ. Many extensive posts
deal with this- just use the search function to find them and a solution.

i think i said in another thread you need to change out all the mason line on that UQ with shock cord.... now you know why i said to do so
once you get that swapped out(All of the mason line) you can get it to snug up nice without being too tight

as for Condensation that is a problem you will have around those temps Key is to combat them .....
get your tarp up more to let some airflow under it will help if you have a bug net over you zipper it open that will help as well
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

I don't have a ridgeline but I'm thinking to make one. Instead of a drawcord at the head end where the colds getting in maybe attach some loops on the side and run cord to the ridgeline to hold it up. And. The entire inside of the tarp got moisture. I mustve been breathing hard!

you don't need to do all of that.. just replace the mason line with shock cord
it should do the trick... if you still have some air coming in a mitten hook at the foot end to lift it will fix any small leaks just clip the shock cord together over the top of the hammock to bring it up

You do Joe, breathe out A LOT of moisture at night. Do like Cakes mentioned and get a frost bib to hang from your ridgeline, this will collect the moisture in one spot.

A few things. For the pod as others have suggested shock cord tight the ends. Also, stuff loose items on the head and foot ends Of the pod to fill uP the dead space. This helps keep you warm. I have a peak bag from 2QZQ that I keep my down jacket stuffed into. I hang the peak bag just above my head. I'm actually thnking of getting another for the foot end to stuff my gear. Just because you are in a pod there is a misconception that all is automatically warm but the truth is there is a lot of space for your body to heat up. Minimize those spaces and you'll be much warmer.

SecOnly pitch your tarp at a steeper angle you breath will still condense but will drip down the tarp Sides and not on you.

    Keep at it. Good luck!

My uq has maisons line. My peapod has no cordage at all. I'm worried shoccording the head will make me freak out. I'm going to try the ridgeline idea and I will raise the tarp higher.maybe make a bib like I saw on another post.
