    Backyard Testing Issues

After seeing the discussion about the cheap down bag at Walmart, I decided to give it a try as an inexpensive TQ. The online specilal had the sleeping bag for $69.99, or the bag plus a 26" pad for $69.00.

The package arrive yesterday and looked promising. It packs incredibly light and small, but doesn't feel like there's much there, so I decided to try it out in the backyard last night to see if it was warmer than it looks. Learned two things:

First, pick a cooler night. Low last night was 67F, so I didn't even use insulation, and second and most importantly:

Remember when your sprinklers are programmed to come on!

We'll try again after everything dries out!

Sounds like fun. Let us know how your set up does when it cools off a bit. (I'm not too far from Ft. Worth if you have any questions)

My daughter asked, "Why didn't you set up a cover?" She just laughed when I explained they don't work when the rain is falling up! Apparently I need more than doors. Anybody have plans for DIY floors?

LOL, that is a wild one! You may have started a need for an entire new class of hammock related equipment, something with floors!

Reminds me of when I went with the boys to the local minor league baseball game on 'Scout Night' after the game the kids get to campout on the field and watch a movie on the giant video screen. Great promotion, so great we had more than could fit on the field and the overflow (our group included) used the surrounding softball fields. Let me just add if you have to go to ground, do it on a ball field. the lay is flat and the grass is plush. you don't even need a pad. Anyway, It was a great night until the sprinklers on the softball fields came on at 2 in the morning. Fortunately we were in tents. But it was the funniest thing.
