I am interested in this product.
How does primaloft compare to down? I am going to tackle an UQ in a few months and am trying to plan it out.
This stuff is loose fill synthetic that has the same fill power as 550 down. From what I've read on other posts, like this one http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=40227
it seems like a pretty good alternative to down. I've currently got this PE foam (think IX) underquilt that I made that was good for summer stuff, but I wanted some thing a little better. I'm hoping this stuff works out. I will say that I'm a little disappointed with the time it's taking to process my order, it's been almost a week and my order is still processing. If anything I think it will be a cheaper alternative than down, hopefully it will function well. Arrowhead equipment produces quilts using the primaloft that is in sheet form and they seem to be pretty popular.

It depends on how much you use.Thanks. I know there are many variables to consider, but what temperatures do you think the stuff can go down to?
The consensus seems to be it = 550 FP down.
The thread alluded to goes into detail about permaloft.
This thread has info on loft to temperature ratios (Keep in mind its subjective)
http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=40610
2.5" of loft is about 20-30 degrees of comfort
So a 45x60 UQ with 2.5" loft needs 12.5oz of permaloft
45 x 60 x 2.5 = 6,750
6,750 / 550 = 12.27
If you used 800 FP down instead of 550
6,750 / 800 = 8.43 oz

wwk10 is correct with regards to how much is needed based on the formula above. I plan on using 16oz of PL in my underquilt. I hope that gets me into the 30* range at least. My top quilt will probably be in the same range.
Ok so package came today. Maybe this weekend I'll be able to get everything together.

I'm pretty new to this, and after seeing some of the prices for quilting I'm considering DIY. I just dont have any idea how to get my hands on down or synthetic. Any body got any web sites or companies that sells the stuff? And what does it go for?
