    Get you some leather gloves if you plan on using wire as a splicing tool. I sliced my finger pretty good while doing some backsplicing last night. It takes a toll on your hands after awhile.

    I have used wire, a loop puller and one of the inside strands from an ethernet cable. The ethernet strand is definitely my favorite so far. The rubber coating makes it slide like butter and it doesn't hurt my hands nearly as bad as the bare wire. Just my $0.02

    I use a piano wire for lash it or zing it which most local small hardware stores sell and a heavy gauge solder wire for amsteel
