I've used duct tape and due to my constant fiddling it looks a bit messed up now. How do I seal the ends so they do not fray overtime? Do you use other methods besides tapes?

You can back splice or melt it. Back splice looks better.
Good luck,

Or you can use shrink tube. Yet another option is Whip End Dip.
When all is said and done, however, back splicing is the hands down best choice.

I splice here too.
Shrink tube and Whip End Dip for sure is tough to find here in the Phil.

I dips the ends of my Warbonnet ridgeline tails in super glue. I take off the shrink wrap he puts on first though. I do the super glue because there's not enough of a tail to backsplice.
I do a fresh cut to get all the loose strands off.
Then a quick trip over the lighter will bond all the strands into a small ball.
I try to lower the rope into the flame from directly overhead, that keeps the heat centered and the melting uniform.
The rope is polyethylene (plastic), it will melt. Matter of fact, it will burn if you dilly-dally with the lighter too long.
