What pad for a tenth wonder hornet?

I reckon any pad will work on the Hornet.....but there are CCF pads and also ones like Thermarest, Big Agnes and others that have air in them. Many like the Gossamer Gear type pads. Sometimes two pads together work well in very cold.
Also windshield reflectors work for many as well.
It is up the user to find what works best for them.

I would not recommend the ProLite. I have had bad experiences with it in very cold temps. CCF is a better option IMHO.

I have that Hammock and Pad combo. I'm currently working out different pad placement strategies in the basement. It's really comfortable having the pad in the Big Agnes sleeve, but it raises you up in the hammock making it a little tippy. I'm going to try using the pad sleeve on the hammock and see if it works better. Once I get comfortable hanging in the atmosphere controlled basement, I'll head out into the back yard to check for temperature comfort. If it gets really cold, I have a spare synmat that I will use in whatever sleeve is unoccupied inflated to about 50%. I'll report back with my findings soon...

I tried out my thermarest ridgerest CCF pad in the hornet a couple nights ago. Woke up with enough condensation under and beside me to be quite noticeable. I think i'll have to try sleeping without the pad next, to see if it's just the pad that's making all the condensation.

Comfort-wise, I loved the pad. My back was warm all night, at around 7 celsius I believe.

Could you explain how you had the pad situated in the hammock? Also, did you have the waterproof bottom layer attached? Since it's not permeable, that might be a better place to start.

Oh yes. Had my pad in between my hammock layers, and also the waterproof outer velcroed on the outside of that. I was also thinking of taking that off later, and trying that out.
On thinking on it more, there was condensation on the sides of me as well, which makes sense if its the fault of the waterproof layer.

Is it only certain types of weather it will do this in? I do live on the wet upper west coast, too. I guess that doesn't help.

I got condensation with pads from time to time........just happens.
UQ....no condensation ever for me.

Hey shug, have you slept directly on the pad, then used a sleeping bag as an overquilt (or just used an overquilt..)? I'm thinking of trying that tonight, and seeing if it helps with the condensation at all. Not sure if it'll help, but worth a try I 'spose.

I have many times...... some had more condensation that other. Got a fair amount with CCF pads and windshield reflective pad....weather depending. got less with Thermarest Prolite inflatable lightly inflated. SPE helped even more.
