Cold weather hammock gear

I am planning an A.T thru hike next year starting at the end of Feb. I currently have a wicked light 45 bag that I want to use as a top quilt, thermarest sleep pad,3-Season Yeti underquilt and a Reactor Plus Thermolite® Liner also a superfly tarp. I was wondering if this would be good for the conditions I will encounter? any help would be great..Thanks

Feb and Mar the beginning sections of the AT can and usually will see temps in the teens and single digits. The Smokies are high elevation, as are the Roan Highlands which you will run into after a month on the trail. Single digits temps have occured the beginning of April in these areas.

A 45 deg. TQ probably isn't going to be sufficient for these temps. I'm a warm sleeper, and I wouldn't go out with a 45 deg. bag in Feb.

Thanks Joey gonna save up for a good topquilt. I was hoping with a bag liner and layering that it would work but better to be safe then sorry.

i would read some trail journals of people that did a thru to get a better idea what you will run into ...
but Joey is dead on like i said in the other thread your going to run into temps in the 20's and lower get a good TQ to go with your Yeti ... and maybe a hammock sock for more weather protection ...you said you have a pad bring that you can use that for your feet or with your UQ if you get a chill... and for sleeping in shelters also before you hit the trail test your gear make sure it can do what you ask of it ..get out in some cold temps... i see your from FL maybe a trip up north a few times before your hike to get use to the cold you will run into

Celebrate New Years on Springer, that will give you a chance to test out your gear for a colder night than you are going to find anywhere in FL and then plan on seeing temps 15-20 degrees colder during the first couple of months on the trail. Its easier to cool off with too much insulation than it is to warm up too little.

G.L.P gonna take your advice and save up for a quality top quilt . would i be alright with a 20 topquilt or should i just get the 0 ? just tring to keep my weight down but dont wanna freeze either lol.
