    Some tropical questions

So I'll be moving down under very shortly and looking forward to getting into my HH asym-zip, but I've got a few questions for you tropical hangers.
do any of you use a sleeping bag or just a blanket? I'm looking at picking up a MEC lightweight bag before I go (last chance for a while) that is thinner on one side, rated to 10c/22c I guess you put the thinner side up for warmer temps. wondering if that might be a good idea. http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/Sleepi...-bag-1522c.jsp
I've also got some stakes, and snake-skins, but I was wondering if anyone has had any spider problems, and what steps can be taken in that regard. I'm sure that even the thin bug screen will keep snakes out, but the last thing I need is a white-tail or red-back biting my while I roll up the kit. (or am I worried for no reason?
    thanks guys!

    Hey Gadgetgeek,
Where abouts in Australia are you moving to.
Climate here varies a fair bit depending on location.

In tropical temps I just used a poncho liner, just rolled myself into it, fell back in the hammock (that time HH without zip) and snoozed...

    Pro: it's cheap
    Con: it's bulky

Down Under, like Swampy said.... it's HUGE...so temps might vary.... and therefore the need of insulation.

Yes, I think your worrying for no reason......as long as don't sit on jack-jumpers nest you'll be fine.
    Ants with atitude..

Sun/heat is always an issue....cover up & hydrate.
    Snakes.....take a pressure bandage & communication.

If your heading to South East Queenland a lightweight top quilt or a coverted sleeping bag is the way to go.
+ a light underquilt or supershelter if you don't already have one.

All depends where your going to be based.

Home base will be the Sunny Coast, but we are hoping to do a bunch of traveling over the next few years, and I have have plans for at least one outback trip (I have a swag as well)
I guess I'll also have to see how quick I loose my cold weather acclimation, when I was there last I went camping with some guys, morning temp was about 10 degrees, and I was one of the few who slept well, (only one without a heater that slept I think) and had the thinnest sleeping bag. although, by the time it got back up to 28c I was ready to pass out

Thanks for the links bud! I'm looking forward to some new adventures, not the least of which will be my first real "living" in a different country. I've traveled a bunch, but this will be the settle down and make a living sort of thing, at least for a while. On the upside, I've got enough toys to keep me happy for a good long time even if the budget has to get tight.
