Expedition height and weight rating

I'm 6'3" and about 220 lbs. I slept in an Expedition last year for a weekend hike and found it to be very comfortable for two nights. I'm wondering if there is a good reason not to purchase the Expedition since it isn't rated for my height and weight. Seems like if it fit me for those couple of nights I should have no problem on a longer trek. Don't want to spend the extra funds for a longer hammock if I don't really need to.

If you liked it and found it comfortable, you're golden. I'm 5'11" and while I found the Expedition quite comfy, I went to an Explorer Ultralight and love the extra room. Your mileage, as usual, will vary.

Also, the Expedition is rated to 250lbs, so your 220lb weight shouldn't be a big issue.

I have been sleeping very comfortably in a HH BPUL rated for 6 footers and 200lbs. I am either 6'1" or 6'2" and have been as heavy as 195lbs. I did find that sometimes my toes would be touching the netting when I woke up if I had slipped down from an improper hang, but never any bites!

Upshot is if you were happy with it once, you will be again. Give er'.

Contrarian opinion.

The people over 6' who find the Expedition to be comfortable are few and far between. I'm 6'2" and can sleep in my Expedition but MUCH prefer my larger Explorer or DIY hammocks. If it works for you, then who can argue with that but consider something bigger.

^ Seconded. At 6' I find my Expedition to be a little short, and I'm not very bulky at 165. It's not uncomfortable, but I would be happier with a little more room to get a flat lay.

Yeah I am also 6'1" around 200lbs and use the expedition. While I am comfortable and never had any problem, I don't think I would complain if I had some more room.

), and right around 190-200lbs.

I've tried my son's expedition, and far prefer my explorer as well. Just consider that odds are you'll want the additional space/comfort later on...make your purchase smart from the beginning.

I'm about 5'9" and while I will still use my Exped I find it slightly confining and prefer my larger hammocks.

Does anyone know why these hammocks have the weight limits specified. I am 215, at 5'8", and have an older expedition 2.5. What can break on the hammock if I use one rated at 200 lbs.?
