    Sipsey Hang Feb 2012

This past weekend Tacky Hiker and myself took two friends of ours to the Sipsey Wilderness in north Alabama. We arrived late Fri. night at the parking area and camped near the car. The next morning we woke up and hiked to Eagle Creek Falls and Deer Skull Falls. I was able to try out my new DIY side-stretch gathered end hammock with my DIY tarp. The tarp and hammock worked like a charm. I also used smokeeater908's mini heat and Zelphs ridgeline pot for the first time in the field, and could not have been happier. Tacky Hiker was also able to try out some new gear. Overall we had a great trip and found a great camping spot for a future Sipsey hang.

It's all off trail but, I can send you my gps track file. I also wouldn't mind doing this trip again with some hf members.

It rained a little bit, during the day Sat. For the most part the worst was Sat night when we went to bed. It stopped about the time we got up to hike out. Couldn't have asked to time the rain better.

    Tacky:

That WW is on its way to you. I'd bet you'll be opening it in Thursday's mail. I've never done the Sipsey Wilderness or the Sipsey River, though my brother and I ran the Buttahatchie in the area last year in our kayaks. We plan to do it again. We log our float trips on Facebook under Midsouth Hook and Paddle. You can check out the Buttahatchie:

The mini heat is definetly my go to stove. Also excellent craftmanship!
