Thanks for the comment, gargoyle has already built his own version with different materials and I can’t wait to see how it works for him. I still have a couple of issues to work out. Hopefully this weekend at the Pa 72 to 501 hang I can get some input as to how to make some improvements.

    IDK test

I tested my newest version (made out of coated rip stop with a weight of 8.5 oz) of my IDK on a 70 mile long thru hike on the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=59138 It worked great as a tarp door now that I have the Dutch hooks. The hooks allow me to easily disconnect and reconnect the suspension in order to install the tarp door or remove it as necessary. In the video from the trip around 4:40 you see us walking thru rain and my IDK did a great job of keeping my pack dry. I didn’t try to use it as a camp chair much because all of the sites we camped at had fire rings and logs around them for sitting on. I had wanted to post a report earlier than this but this is the first trip I’ve been able to get away on all year…….such is life. All in all I’m happy with how it preformed and thought it was well worth carrying the extra weight.

I love the multipurpose aspect of this!

BTW: where did you get the extenders for your hammock stand?

The stand came that way. I was building a deck for some clients and they were clearing out there basement, and asked if I wanted it (for free). The hammock came with a cabana that hooked on the extensions. Free is always my favorite price
