    HG Cuben Vs. Zpacks Cuben

Starting to drift down the cuben tarp road...Zpacks lists their tarp as being .51 oz cuben. HG says theirs is CT1K.08 cuben. What is difference between these two cuben materials??

I just went to both sites and can't find where it says 0.51 and CT1K.08 are the same - is this info on their sites, or the manufacturers site?

Cubic Tech CTF3 product is CT1K.08 with a weight of 17.4 g/m^2 or ~.61 oz/m^2 or ~.51 oz/yd^2 as best as I can figure. Photos are from websites. The rest of my knowledge comes from speaking with the vendors. None of the other weights are close.

Don't forget to checkout HMG cuben tarps unless doors are a must.
I have this one and love it for my 3 season hanging. I still use syl nylon for winter.

Both are great tarp makers. Joe will build just about anything you want. Hammock Gear cuben tarps are pretty much stock, you can add pullouts. I have a Zpack cuben and really like it. I don't have a HG one but hope to someday. Can't go wrong either way. If you need what HG offers, get it. If you need something more custom go with Joe.

My HG Cuben tarp (on order) is fully custom. Joe is good people, but I bother him enough with custom orders, I figured I'd bug Adam this time. He gave me a great deal on a smaller tarp with about the same coverage as the big boy.

    Options..

FYI, Hammock Gear does offer more custom options than our website currently advertises. We will make pretty much any shape tarp (with or without doors, asym, etc) with any tie-out configuration. We build MOST of our tarps from CT1K.08 (yes that is the 0.52oz stuff) but I have built them from most of the common cuben fiber laminate weights being used. Just shoot me an email or give me a call any time you like and we can work out the details.

We are finally working on the website again and hope to have some new stuff on there in the next week or so....

    Thanks!
