Hi James, welcome to the forums. I am from Pinebluff, NC; Only about 20 minutes west of you. Let's get together and hike sometime. I head up to the Uwharries at least once every few months.

Sure, that sounds like a good idea. I was in the Uwharries this weekend...got a little damp and chilly on Sunday but I managed to stay dry and warm. If being the Infantry has taught me one thing, it is how to stay warm and dry when you get the chance.

yes, thank you for your service to us and your country. i too, plan to have fishing as a part of my backpacking experience. here in louisiana that will consist of cat fishing. i have made floats that can be used along the banks of lakes and rivers. camping and eating fresh fish go together perfectly.

    Welcome from Washington State!

I've been fly fishing almost as long. If you can upgrade to an ENO Doublenest or a Grand Trunk, you'll find that you get a flatter lay.

Of course, if you got a hatch goin' off where your fishing, then you'll want to upgrade to one with a bug net. LOL
