I know how I can fix this, but am unsure if I really want to. I like the shelf being higher because it makes lounging in the hammock a little more comfy, and it seemed to keep the stuff I store in the shelf away from me more. One thing I have noticed with my Blackbird is that if I put too much stuff in the shelf, it will hit against me when I'm sleeping. It doesn't happen with this hammock. I have some ACU coming so I'm gonna make another one with slight changes.

So for the people that can visualize what I'm talking about, what kind of issue would this be for you if you had a hammock like this? I'm just trying to get different input from people so I can try different things. I need more sewing projects!

I got a chance to see this hammock in person this weekend and i was really impressed with how professional the stitching was. Thats is a great looking hammock.
    Nice job Yukon.

The shelf side on the BB is very high for me and that doesn't bother me. I have come to expect a wall of fabric on my right side no matter what hammock i am in. Plus i'm a side sleeper and my back faces the "wall" anyway.

    keep up the good work!

Me too, a sucker for camo...especially the woodland. I have some ACU coming for my next couple that I want to make, so it will be cool to see this hammock with that pattern...

Thanks man. Raiffnuke is a good dude, and a good friend, so I thought it only appropriate that I did this for him.

Well, I haven't sewn anything since my Home Economics class in 7th grade, so I had to teach myself how to do it again. YouTube videos, questions to Ramblinrev, and practice got me to where I feel comfortable. And learning your machine is a huge part of it I believe. Not just the controls, but the way it acts. It's hard to explain but you will know what I mean the more you use your machine.

Thanks mbnow, appreciate the comments. Wish I could have been at the hang this weekend, could have met ya. My stitching is getting better with each hammock I make, which is just a testament to practice I guess. I can finally look at my finished product and feel good about it.

And I'm with you on how I sleep in this style hammock. Plus, my tarp is set up in porch mode 90% of the time so there isn't anything to see out that side anyway lol. Come to think of it, that side of my tarp is NEVER up. I guess if I wasn't under a tarp for the night it would be different, but even then I'd be looking straight up at the stars

    Very nice

Ideas for next hammock...As I wear glasses I thought it would be nice if there was a small pocket in the shelf where I could keep my glasses at night.
