    My First Double Layer Hammock

I finished my first double layer hammock last night. I got a chance to take some pics tonight. It was dark and I actually hung it upside down I didn't realize until I got it back inside
I put about a 18" piece of shock cord in the edge (on opposite ends) to stop from having floppy sides (stretched to 30"). I folded the gathered ends and sewed together 8-9" so if I decide to add a zippered bug net it should be easier. I left a 24" opening along one edge between the layer so I can slip a pad or insulation between the layers. I also put a fixed loop in each of the gathered ends to attach my ridgeline to.

Nice work! Thanks for sharing.A couple of questions for you. Did you leave any gap between the layers? If not, what kind of insulation do you think you will use between the layers?

No I didn't leave a gap between the layers. The double layer is actually for strength. It is a prototype for someone who isn't really comfortable with a single layer. I may slip a ccf pad in for winter use or maybe just a space blanket.
I just figured I would give myself the option.

Great job. I like the color too. Where did you get the fabric and what weight is it?
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

I got the fabric at a local store (Atlantic Fabrics). I'm not sure of the weight. I tried to do the calculations to figure it out myself but no luck. I may try again tonight as I think I have about a square yard left over after the stuff sack I made last night

So I weighed a square yard of the rip-stop and it weighed 2.9 oz....so i dunno...

I seem to get a much flatter lay with this DIY hammock than with my hennessy...I am thinking that it is gonna be really comfy...now just to make a bug net before the flies return...and some more hammocks for the kids

Here are a couple more pics of the hammock (right side out ) and my PLUQ with two of the kids trying it out...
