I asked a lot of questions and read a ton of posts and re-learned something I already knew - It's impossible to make chicken salad out of chicken crud (family friendly )
I mixed the sil to the correct proportions and made sure that in was dissolved properly. I soaked and turned, kneaded and mixed to ensure complete coverage. I hung it and let soak for a bit and then squeegeed the excess off and let it dry for several days. However, what I failed to realize is that the cheap WM fabric does not readily absorb the sil mix and that when I did the hose test, there was no waterproofing whatsoever.
Now I know and knowing is half the battle...
