I carry one tarp year round, so I am ready for any weather. and my tarp of choice is the AHE Hard Rock winter tarp, my second choice is the Wilderness logics OMW. Both are great, but the AHE is so roomy I kind of hope to get "stuck" in it for a day or so!!!

I'll second the AHE Hard Rock Winter tarp. It's the one I'm going to use in all seasons.

I just bought a Wilderness Logistics Big Daddy (on sale there now) for my WBBB. Appeared to me to be the best option for price, weight & price. Will only be carrying one tarp hiking in the mountains. A little bit bigger than WB's Edge.

a tarp the keeps you dry and blocks wind works best.

PU poly, silnylon, spinnUL & cuben have all proven to do the above- with decreasing weight, and thereby decreased durability and increased cost on down the list.

as stated from the knowledgeable members who've spoken before me - each persons needs vary.

Personal favorites are WB Superfly in the winter and OES MacCat Deluxe in cuben during the warmer months. Those are my goto tarps, but I have many other very fine tarps. The good news is, they all fit over the Blackbirds just fine. Even my wittle bitty OES MacCat Micro. The bad news is, that doesn't really narrow it down for you too much.

Good luck, but you'd have to try pretty hard to find a bad tarp from any of the established gear makers around here.

I am new to hanging, just getting geared up. I recently bought the Warbonnet BB and now need to get a tarp. Weight and good coverage are my main concerns... What do you pros use with the BB.

In all seriousness, just about any of the tarps made for hammocks will work. You just have to decide on your use conditions, cost, what you want to carry.
