    Colorado hang?

There are several members here that are from Colorado, and I was recently thinking it would be nice to set up a hang sometime out there to give me another excuse (as if you really need one!) to get out to one of my favorite destinations, and also meet some forum members.

Would anyone be interested in setting something up later in the summer or early fall?

    Pine Creek

Between Twin Lakes and Buena Vista in the Arkansas Valley. In the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness.

Nice! If you are familiar with the junction (285 & 24) just south of Buena Vista, I had a camp up there a few years ago near an observation station with a view of the Collegiate Peaks. Wonderful!!

I am definately game for this! Will that date put us there before the snowing starts for the year?

Maybe we will beat the snow. I was there 9/30-10/01/06 and 9/22-23/07 and had no snow.

Yep, Johnson Village. Maybe breakfast at the Gunsmoke on the way in and lunch at the Coyote Cantina on the way out.

Confession: I am a Colorado Trail adopter and I will be doing my season end maintance that weekend.

I do not fish, but I bet there are fish in Pine Creek. The headwaters of Pine Creek is the Missouri Basin that is surrounded by Harvard, Oxford, Belford, and Missouri 14'ers.

This area was beautiful, and I would definately be interested in exploring the backcountry around there! Plus there are some folks in Salida who I would like to see.

I just called Bill Dvorak's whitewater rafting company, and they said there is still rafting near the Royal Gorge area which is downstream from Salida in late September. Perhaps we could try that too!
