Bobbin Tension - A Personal Viewpoint
Yeah, for some reason it's a strange occurrence for men to be in a fabric store, alone (no wife dragging them along,) buying fabric! I am always in the minority there, and always have lots of cute women to flirt and joke with. After watching you pawing amongst the bargain bin fabrics, running your hands on the fabric to get a feel for what it is, they look at you a little better when you are telling them you're buying the silk or nylon for a hammock! What else would I be buying it for! "Oh, and what's that bundle of hollofil for?" I'm making an underquilt for my hammock, what else? "OH, you're making camping equipment." That's right!
That's funny. No offense to all the little old ladies here, but I think men are easier to deal with. At least that was my retail experience. I went to my local one today. No silk, but got some half off gutturnman thread.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

I'm going to run over to mine again, and see if I can find any more bargains. They had lots of short (35") rolls of silk, but only a couple that were 54" or longer, and some of those had appliques attached to the fabric. Maybe I should try a different JoAnns just to see what they have. I also wanted to get the info from the rolls I bought from.
Don't forget to sign up on JoAnn's website for the coupons! You get a half off item (including a cut of fabric) fairly frequently.
Thanks for the advice, MamaCat! I am going to head up there pretty soon myself to try to buy a whole roll of the kelly green. I hope they will do it! Probably going to pick up some guttermans and look at the window insulation mentioned above, as well. Woohoo!
