I use a BishopBag; don't have to mark nothing.
A BishopBag only opens on one end, with a small hole on the other end for the first few inches of suspension (Amsteel) to pass through. Means my head end is the only end that ever comes out of the bag. Easy-peasy.

I have an orange whoopie sling on my head end and a gray one on the foot end. Thats on my WBBB. I know there is only one head and foot end on a WBBB but I do it for no brainer ID. I also do the same thing in regards to color on my Incubator. Orange S biner on the head end, green on the foot.

Color coding is a great way... I always go with red or orange for the head end. I say to myself, "Red..Head". I have used variations of colored cordage and have recently been using a silver biner and an orange biner. I use a bishop bag and right when I open it, I can see which end I opened first at a quick glance since the biners are easily visible at each end.

Noob mix-up! What I have is double ended stuff sack and not the Bishopbag! Just realize the difference between the two

Using a double end stuff sack, at the head end I tie a two knots in the draw cord. I don't need to see which end is which, I can feel it.

I'm sad to say that the tail end of my hammock has mud marks from my boots on it!

I have a small monkey wrench flag hanging from the suspension line at the foot (entrance) end of my Hennessy.
