There is no real difference between top and under quilts for Speer Style hammocks. For a top you will want a velcro foot box that can be undone for use as a bottom. For a bottom you need cord channels for hanging it under you that don't bother you if you use it as a top.

For at least one of the other styles of hammocks there is a signifcant difference between bottoms and tops.
