Odd Request...

OK...so I'm getting my wife interested and involved in the hammock insanity. She's been very tolerant of my many neurosis over the years...and she's willing to try this one out.

I picked up a Grand Trunk double for her yesterday, in her favorite colors. Pink/purple. Her daypack is pink, and lots of her gear is pink or purple...or both.

I'd like to be able to get her a pink or purple (personally, I'd prefer to see a deep purple) tarp to go over her new hammock.

Heck, I'd even like to find some matching whoopies and tree straps as well.

I'm NOT very DIY capable...limited time and resources make that a bit unlikely.

Anyone know where I might find something like this ready made, or know who/where I could go for some custom work along these lines? Thanks in advance!

I had Brian at OES make my wife a 4 season in purple last year. I ordered the fabric from Quest and had it drop shipped directly to him.

I'm sure you could contact any of the cottage manufacturers here to discuss something like this.

Like tendertoe said, brian would do anything but with his new career he may not be into doing it. I'd be willing to bet wilderness logics would do it, or maybe papa smurf.

I think Dutch had a cool looking purple hex tarp.

Gargoyle will do a custom Ogee tarp for you as well. I think most vendors here have some ability to customize. Just gotta ask.

And, if you want purple whoopies, New England Ropes makes this product which is akin to Amsteel. Just need to find a vendor.

Wow! "Purple Whoopies!" You'll never find a catchier product name. It's enough to make me consider taking up splicing as a career.

Owl, if you can track down a source for this stuff (Redden?) and send me some, I'll make whoopies for you for free.

Actually I've been tossing around the idea of a pink tarp or at least some other pink item to be part of my kit as a sign of support for the fight against breast cancer which is something close to my heart.

Owl, if you locate any suitable fabric or cordage could you shoot me a pm?

I've gotten 1.1 oz purple ripstop for moe.z's Incubator and 1.1 oz purple sil for her tarp from Quest. They have quite a color selection to choose from. I'm sure one of their shades of pink would be what you're looking for.

As for cordage, the red Amsteel could pass for pink after a few uses IMHO.

If you send me the webbing and amsteel I will make them into huggers and whoopies for free. I think OWF has a deep purple that is between purple and blue. AHE or Gargoyle is who I would chose for that.
