The next thing you have to decide with that is will it be lighter to just make a WS of the same overall length as the UCR. I had to bounce that around myself when I was making those. One of my UCRs without a Dutch hook or straps, or anything else was about 7 grams for an overall length of 70", to make a WS that length would be ~11-12 grams I would guess. If I did a cord lock instead it would be ~9-10 grams. Is losing 2-3 grams of weight worth the possible hassle? In my case I was trying to get the entire hammock system below a pound so ever gram I saved counted, but is it worth it to you?

Ain't the truth. Even with a lighter weight solution for pulling the tail, there's not a lot of difference weight wise. The difference is perceptibly greater I think with respect to bulk, because you can see the difference

I like the UCR because I'm a bit of a purist. It does the job with less weight and bulk, even if the difference isn't very large.

Agreed. I like having one cord instead of two. I'm working with Dutch hooks to reduce the quilt suspension as well. Anything to make it cleaner looking. I made some WS for my wife and kids hammocks and don't care for them for myself.
