    Spinn Tarp

I just purchased JRB 11x8 Hex Spinn Tarp. Cant wait to try it out.

I took my Greylock3 on my last trip and it was awesome. I changed out the end channel cord for thin shock cord.

It's not really all that much different than Sil once it is setup taut. It's noisy when you're stuffing/unstuffing it from the sack mostly.

    Depends who you ask.

I've been using Spinn since about 08'. The first rain storm I spent under it, I admit that it was pretty loud. That was the last time I even noticed the noise. The brain tuned it out and it just became background noise. I have a bigger noise issue when packing it up the next morning. Anybody in camp still sleeping, won't be when I start breaking camp.

I've been using Spinn for several years also. I notice the noise only when I'm taking the tarp down.

I did a noise test on mine up against silnylon. You can hear it in this video at 7:55.
    Hope it helps. Slight variance.

You'll love it. I had a similar experience to Cannibal where after the first night I didn't notice the noise with the rain.

...I thought I remember reading a while back cottage industry folks were having problems with the waterproofness/quality of spinn coming from the manufacturer. Is that not the case anymore?

I have a JRB Spinn tarp and simply love it. I know it is noisier, but I just don't mind it. It's not going to keep me awake or anything.

I think that's why some of them stopped selling spinn tarps. I can't remember the exact reason why, but you could probably find it in a search.

Added: Here is one thread briefly discussing it.
